Removing oil injection

Recently heard that removing the stock oil injection is probably a good idea just incase something would ever happen, and mixing my own fuel/oil is probably safer. I have a 94 Merc 40hp still using the oil injection, what im looking for is what exactly i need to remove/disable. Basically how do i do this and is it as good of an idea as it sounds?

It's a good,reliable system,if it is not broken,don't fix it.
