I have 2 diodes on a PCB that I would like to replace. These are the only markings other than the stripe indicating the cathode end.

Can someone identify or link me to a replacement?

You can often identify a component using the NTE online crossreference utility. There are some assumptions that need to be made when deciphering some of those part numbers and their crossreference will do that intelligently for you.Ron G

Thanks, I will put that into my bookmarks.

Just a curious question. Why do you want to replace them? They don't wear out, they either good or bad.

I'm not 100% sure they need replacing yet. I'm attempting to repair a solid state amplifier. There were 2 bulging capacitors on the PCB. These 2 diodes were near the caps. The PCB is discolored (from heat) around the caps and around the diode's leads. The only other components in the neighborhood are resistors and they all check out fine on my meter.

I found the two 100uF caps at the Shack and will try those first.

Update: The caps did the trick.

This amp has been a boat anchor for about 6 years, but now it works.:D

Nice going. You probably don't need to be told this but if you have room on the board you can increase the reliability of the repair by replacing the capacitors with a higher voltage rating for peace of mind.
If you do much repair work I have a source for an assortment of about 325 electrolytic capacitors for around 25 bucks. It comes in very handy when you have a suspicion and don't have a capacitance bridge to check them out with.
I will send the link to you privately if you are interested.Ron G

Yes thanks, that info might come in handy one day. And I did need to be told.;) I'm pretty new to electronics. I'm learning though.

Speaking of capacitors, there's an interesting article at Wikipedia about the bulging capacitor problem. My first run-in with this was maybe 7 or 8 years ago with computer motherboards. I still see it occasionally. The amplifier I was working was from the 1980s, so I was surprised to see that problem.

I am going to try to post the link here, not sure what the rules are these days but here goes.

This way others can benefit from it and I do not think that this will hurt iboats sales in any way.
This guy is good to do business with, prompt shipping and he has devices that I cannot find any where else, like SMD caps, resistors etc.
His prices are not that bad considering that he is about the only one selling in small amounts.Good luck.Ron G
