there is a trip called the freindship tour that leaves green river utah and traveles down the green to the confluence of the colorado and back up the colorado to moab utah each spring at around high water. they provide fuel stops and a ride back to green river.
i have wanted to do this trip every year for 4 years now but havent made it yet. i have been told we could use our 23' searay with no problems. i would still use my sons 19' bow rider.

here are a couple of pics to give you a flavor of the country. if on the tour you pass here. these were taken on the green just a few miles above the colorado

and last-snow that will be in the colorado befor summer is over

Re: green river utah pic

folks you have no idea what this has done for me.
totally love the west and have been going there for many many years.
never been to green river but have passed by going from salt lake to denver.
have a starcraft islander and that's what we would be using.
can you tell me the full length of the trip, time of year that's best?
web pages that can be accessed, any and all info on this?
have googled up moab and green river plus looked at the rivers using google earth 5.0.
looks like you should know what your doing to make this trip.
wife, grandson and i probably.
not going to get my wife to camp along the way so may be grandson and i, will see.
moab looks like it would be easy running if just using the trip route.
well yhanks for listening.

We did that trip a number of years ago (+-10), and it was incredible. We didn't do an organized trip, we just got a few of us together and went for it. 1992 Sea Ray 200BR w/5 people and gear, 40gal tank, lashed 20 extra gallons onto the swim platform. We ran into a sand bar once, but it wasn't overly traumatic. Depending on run off, your definately running in 2-3' at times. Pretty nerve wracking but once you are on-plane and trimmed out you aren't drawing more than 18" (listen to me still convincing myself). That river has obviously changed a ton since we did it so i couldn't begin to speculate about conditions, but all that aside it's a must do trip if you like boating. Have fun!

i put these up to show pees form other parts of the county what you could do out here.
if you have any intrest in history this is a boat trip that travels a small part john w powells journey

here is a link that will tell you much more than i can.

the advantage to taking this tour is, its at high water and there is a suport group out to make sure no one is left behind
it can be done in one day or take up to 3 and take it easy

it opens up the river to peeps who might not other get a chance to see this kind of boating.

Re: green river utah pic

well looks like this one has gone dead but can't tell you how much time i have spent studying this one.
fact is it has influenced finishing my boat.
not going to carpet it, just none slip surface, less #.
side panels will just be 1/2" oak ply finished, looks great, strong and less #.
engine cover also finished oak ply, again looks great, strong and less #.
looking at building a swim platform from aluminum rather than wood one, again less #.
some other things also to save # but must keep in mind boat mannerisms.
such as someplace here someone mentiond a commercial boat that capsized.
they had replaced the diesel engines with lighter ones thus upsetting the center of gravity.
jaxnjil you mentioned that you carried 60 gal's but how much did you really use?
that would be 600+ # so am aiming at replacing the saved # with fuel.
feel a number of shake downs would be smart.
the trip is a must but may not have all worked out by the trip time.
moab look like you could run up and down stream 35 miles easy each way.
that would be one breath taking run to get the feel of thigs.
can you or anyone elaborate on this?
thank's, that's all i have to say!

Re: green river utah pic

that was missruby, that has allready taken the trip

thats one of the reasons for me to go on the tour;they provide fuel stops along the way.

they run comerical jet boat tours out of moab both ways and if not sure if you can even get on the river there with out a permit. you would want to check befor you came.

the tour runs at pretty much high water time. the green is more stable because flaming gorge above it but the colorado is more dependent on the run off and so the weather.

thanks for all and yes will check in on the permit, i understand.
love those mtn's and have total respect for them.
that's one thing i learned about them, they demand respect.
if you don't you might not be around long.
if you really listen, they will talk to you.
