Ahoy, Zach. :)

That is a 1977 55HP.

Fuel mix is 50:1, 1 pint TC-W3 rated outboard oil to 6 gallons 87 octane unleaded regular.

Good luck. :)

The first time I did it I used a bottle like that with a tube and squeezed it into the fill hole and it was hard as h___ and I made a big mess. Yes get the pump but it can still get messy. Rick.

ok i got the one with the pump.. it come with 2 quarts but i dont mind i have a johnson on the larson so i can use it on there.. alright another newbie question. i know theres a lower and upper plug for the lower unit. and you drain it from lower and fill from lower but i understand you need to get the air out .. i found one right at the top of the lower unit.. right under the blue lines on the bottom there.. but were would the upper one be. is it a smaller plug?

Well that isn't the end of the world. If I'm viewing your picture correctly you drained only a tiny amount from the leg and some of that was water. Frankly I don't see a lot of water in the picture but for sure there is some. I would say drain it completely, fill it with fresh oil, use new plug gaskets and close it back up. After you have used the motor in the water a few times re-check it by just opening the bottom screw and see if water is present. Many times the water is there as a result of the plug gaskets leaking not the gear case seals. Rick.
