HI Guys,
I read allot & asked for myself, but I am having a hard time buying plywood for my stringers, cause I fear the screws will split it. Mine Had dimensional lumber, 3/4" X 6", 3/4" x 8", & 3/4" x 12" in it. Could I use red cedar. Maybe I am just being ignorant, but the lumber that was in it lasted 22 years & it was not all that bad, & it was a white wood full of knots, & strength was not an issuse. or is the plywood just superior in every aspect.
Thanks,
Lance

Looks like I can get an ACX douglas fir, what is the best way to treat it, & to stop screws from splitting it?
Thanks
