Lots of clear water in oil pan, but the block was winterized... What could it be?

My friend just picked up a project bayliner with a ford 2.3. When we checked for fluid in the block antifreeze came out. When we drained the oil about a gallon of what appeared to be water came out. The water was VERY clear. It appears that ONLY water came out. We didn't even see any oil.

We drained the water.
Put in a gallon of kerosene.
Cranked over the engine.
Drained the kerosene.
Put in a gallon of oil.
Fired up the engine for about 20 seconds.
Drained the oil (Some water still in it).
Put in more kerosene.
Cranked over engine.
Drained kerosene (Tiny bit of water maybe),
Put in 1/2 gallon kerosene and 1/2 oil.
Ran engine till warm (Maybe 1 minute).
Drained oil and kerosene (No water at all).

This engine must have had a gallon and a half of water in it, but the block is still full of bright green antifreeze. Where could the water have come from? Then engine was left out in the open for about 3 years. Could the water have come from condensation?

Let me guess you got a OMC cobra, 2.3 ford motor.

If you didn't put water to the drive the impeller is toast. Would have had to be changed out anyway, cause it sat so long.

Also something is fishy if there was NO oil in the pan but just water.

That means someone had a problem before they put it away and didn't bother to even put oil in it.

That motor have a heat exchanger on it?

I got to tell you this i would take that motor and use it for a anchor. And the drive i would sell on ebay.

Then take the money and buy a boat with a merc drive and motor.

Take off the riser, whats it look like. Take out the spark plugs water in there?

It sat outside with the engine cover on maybe the plug was left in and water came down thru the carb?

You got eyes on it and touching it you tell us, how did the water get in there.

Cracked block, internally. Water jacket leaking water into the pan.

It cold where you are?

Water in oil seperates over time, when you pull the plug first comes water then comes the oil. Something must have been went wrong with your winterizeing procedure, I hope for your sake it's not serious but a gallon of in the oil...Oh man!
