Hey guys,

If I bought a card reader for my computer to use in a usb port,
could I read my Lakemaster map chip on my computer as if I had it in a GPS unit with out hurting the chip?

Will this work to scroll around the map and to zoom in on it?

Re: Card readers?

Trying to read the card is possible with the card reader w/o harm but it may require a special program to open and read the file.

You can safely read the data from your map card. As stated previously, you need a program to view the maps. You could use this to make a backup copy of your chip.

Something like Lowrance's Map Create might work. I can view a Fishing Hot Spots Elite card with it.

Same with Navionics. You can't do anything with them directly.
