For the real manual: www.outboardbooks.com
You can find them on ebay also.
Really, the 68 is not that much different than your 66 for most things.

Im back. I've got some nice exploded diagrams of my motor, don't know if it's the same as your motor (excepting hp of course) but it should be usefull at least.

Not so hot, to be honest. Been off the project for a bit (wife inforced, I assure you). Just now getting back in gear. Planning my attack strategy. Got a little done on the motor when I could sneak it in, LMFAO!!

Oh yeah Ober51, I forgot to mention, my motor is a 66 super sea horse 33hp, so it's nearly identical to yours.

If you need any parts for your motor I just happened to pick one of the 33HP Johnsons last weekend for 60 bucks. It is the 1970 model but all of the parts should be interchangeable. For me, the hardest part about getting these motors dialed in is in the throttle linkage. There are about 3 or 4 locations to tweak the throttle / timing linkages and I just can't seem to get it perfect. If anybody reading this has the "Link and Sync" procedure for this motor I'm sure we could use a few tips on that. Not sure if I was out of bounds for asking a question within a reply but I thought it might pertain. Thanks!

I hear ya, Ill be seeing for myself today. Finaly found a good barrel to get it fired & running in, and the remaining items I needed to put the supporting/feeding systems (fuel, stearing,etc.. LOL)together. From mine, it seems to be the usual tweaking requirements . High & low spead valves mostly. Guess I may find out otherwise. Yeah, I will DEFINATELY keep ya in mind on parts!! Or maybe the whole dang thing for that matter!! WOOHOO!! The wife would try to kill me though! LMFAO!!

Re: HELP!!!! 1966 johnson super sea-horse 33 electric

I'm at a loss!! Need some input desperately!! I got this thing all checking out right!! 120lbs compression each cylinder, good spark, and 35:1 fuel's flowing fine & dandy (I found alot of conflicting info bout the ratio, some said 24:1 some said 50:1, so I landed in the middle).. I've done rebuilt EVERYTHING but the powerhead!! However, she only turns over in earnest if the plugs are out, just barely chugga ... chugga's when they're in, not to mention the hot wire gets HOT FAST, like something's grounding out. I've pulled & checked the magneto, all that seems to check out good. WTF!?!?! Any ideas what the prob could be!? I need this thing going before labor day badly!!
