I've stumbed on an interesting little boat. It's a 13' 1-seater Allison Craft speedboat. Seller thinks it's from the late 60's or early 70's.
I've searched the net without much success, but found they are still in business, building mostly high performance bass boats.

Anybody know if these little "pocket" Allisons have any collector value? Apparently Allison craft had a good reputation for building fast boats.

There was a guy who had one at the Antique Raceboat Regatta back in August. He had a red-band Merc 80hp on it. Went pretty good, too!

It was a V hull.
Guess I didn't jump fast enough- even though I had asked to see it saturday, the guy e-mailed me today to say the boat was sold.
All I can say is $^!#....! That job of mine keeps gettin' in the way of some good deals.
He wanted $500 for the boat, trailer and "great running" 25HP Merc (mid-80's). I was primarilly interested in the motor. Here's some pics:

Screamin deal at $500. I had one back in the 70's. They raced them with Merc 70's, and Rude Stinger's.
I ended up with a Merc 50hp before sold, and got a solid 50mph out of it in perfect water. Wish I could find another today. I'd stick my old Merc 135 on it!:D
And Allisons not only still in the biz, they make some darn fast boats today..

That's a ca. 1975 14' Allison, not a 13'. the 13' and 14' were raced in APBA EP class (JohnRude 75), and also in NOA 40-70 class. It's strictly a raceboat, they ran 65=67 mph depending on prop and setup (kilo record in APBA was 70.560 mph with a slightly different 14' Allison, in NOA where there was no weith limit and motirs could be slightly modified the record was about 80 mph with a 75). With a 25-35 hp motor you can run about 19" high on the transom, not higher, you might try a fully cupped Stiletto prop, although your Mecury chopper may be better. Takes a lot of cup out to maximum diameter with a small motor. The Mercury 85 was also raced but the JohnRude 75 was faster.

Whether the boat's worth anything depends on the bottom. Balsa was used for strength, and if it got wet then the it must be torn out and replaced. Also, any gel coat separation from the glass on the running surface must be repaired, destroys performance. I run a 1983 35 Johnson on a wider pad 15' Allison bass boat (1980 tiller handle model), runs 41.5 mph into and with the wind (GPS) with motor set 19.5" high on the transom. An Allison of that vintage with a good bottom is hard to find.

Get rid of the trim tabs and simply straightedge the bottom, be sure the trailing edge of the pad is square, too. That boat doesn't 'lope'.
