ok I have a 1975 Johnson 115 hp the key switch i am putting in has the auto choke,my questions are, does the wire that goes to the neutral start lock out in the remote control continue to the solenoid it is a white wire. Question 2, I have a black w purple that goes to the power pack is this wire for the accessories. I have a manual coming in the mail but will not be here till next week and was hoping to start this motor this weekend. If anyone can scan a diagram that would help so very much.

Thank you.

Re: replacing key switch. HELP!

you can unplug the big red harness plug, the using a remote start switch, jump the solenoid to start it. you will have to manually choke it, and choke it to kill it. connect switch to incoming + post and the small one right next to it. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_...uipment&psid=FROOGLE01&sid=IDx20070921x00003a any auto parts store will have them.

Yes, the white wire is the "start" wire and goes to the solenoid, by way of the neutral start switch.

I don't remember a black w/purple wire. Black w/yellow is the usual color for the wire going to the power pack as a kill circuit. Sorry, I don't have a diagram for that one, or I'd be looking for that black/purple wire right now. There certainly shouldn't be any accessories connected to the power pack.

I checked my 1975 115hp johnson and there is no black/purple wire, nothing on the wiring diagram either.
