Setting up the new winch and mast/bow stop assy. The winch has a strap with forged hook w/safety snap. When I connect the hook to the bow eye, there is no room left in the eye to connect any kind of safety chain.

Suggestion ? The existing eye has an ID of 1", can I buy bigger eyes?

Connect your safety chain to the strap end of the hook or put the safety chain in, then hook to the safety chain.

Thanks JB, that gave me an idea.

I will buy two 3/8" quick links or shackles and install them in the eye. The winch strap will connect to one link and the safety chain to the other link.

I like this kind of creative thinking :) Problem solved !!!

I run a braided cable with a padlock through the bow eye and down to the trailer. I have the same issue as you. However, if the cable is strung through first then the winch strap hook put on there is plenty of room. All I do is put the boat on the trailer, pull up on to a flat area, unhook the winch strap hook, put the cable through and reattach the winch strap hook to the bow eye
