Well I just put a new water pump on my Johnson V4. When starting it on the muffs I notices good flow out of the tell tale hole but also water leaking out of the seam between the lower unit and the upper housing. I think this is probably Ok but it is also spitting water out of the 2 exhaust holes at the top of the upper housing. Is this normal? I am a newbie to boat repair so i appreciate all the help available on this site. Thanks.

It is supposed to spit water out the exhaust relief.

You were supposed to use some sealer in the seam, but since you didn't, don't worry about it. Any water that comes out there was destined to go out with the underwater exhaust anyway. But if it really bugs you, you can loosen all the bolts and let the gearcase drop down far enough to get some sealant in there.
