Missing white wire on turn signal wiring

My trailer turn signals start at 4 wires in the plug; black, white, yellow, and green. However, when they come out the back of the trailer the white is missing. The lights work perfectly well.

What is the white wire for?

The yellow is left side signal, green wired for right side and black appears to be used for ground.

they work perfectly well but should I be worried that there is no connection with the white wire or leave it as-is??

On my lights on the back of my trailer the white is for ground. Yellow and brown connect back to the harness.

Maybe I should just re-d the wiring then. It is wired twice! With two plugs! I don't get it.

The white wire is the ground...needs to be attached to the trailer (yours must be, for the lights to be working).

The 'black' wire, is really brown...and that is the common wire for the running lights, and goes to both rear lights (and the side markers, if you have them).

I would bet you that the white you are missing is connected to ground around your trailer tongue. Then, you probably have a ground run to both lights. That is actually better than depending on the trailer chasis for ground. If I works fine, I would leave it alone.

the yellow and green are for turn signals and break lites the brown is for markers and the white is ground.
on mine the white is only about a foot long and fastened to the trailer tounge.
