temperature gauge

My original temp gauge stopped working on my 1982 Mako with a 200 Black Max. I put on a new teleflex gauge. I fished yesterday and the gauge read hot all day. I know my engine wasn't running hot, no overheat alarm. My buddy told me he had the same problem and that he was told that the teleflex senders work fine on other motors but read hot on a Merc. He said that I need to get a Quicksilver sender for it to read correctly. I've been searching for a Quicksilver sender with no luck. Is this true? How do I get a gauge that reads properly?

Re: temperature gauge

There is a possiblity that the sender and guage are rate at differant OHMs so get a teleflex sender because it should be easier to change than installing a different gauge.
