What lower unit will fit 120/140 lower unit

I have a 140 model 1 r outdrive I know this is probably posted somewhere but I thougt it was easier to ask.What lower end will fit it.Does the gear ratio really make that much differnence. your input would be appreciated. thanks phil rogers ps its a 1977 model number 444065:confused:

I'm fairly sure any "R" lower will fit. But don't take my word on it.

I have had the lower unit off and it does not have the preload pin I thought maybe it might be alpha one.I dont have a clue. i know you can pressure it up wont hold pressure and with the lower unit off you can hear it leaking somewhere down below but cant figure it out.I put newwater pump and prop seals and the little oring on top last year and the lower unit is just full of water.Help phil rogers:confused:

Ayuh,... It Should, to be period correct....

Got any Pictures...

Any of the Mod.1, or an Alpha 1 lowers should work,...
The gear Ratio is in the Upper unit,...

As Bondo said Model 1 or Alpha 1 and if you replace whole outdrive you need a 1.98 gear drive for the 2.5 4cyl.
