Can anyone help me get a part number for a standard fuel pump to replace my vro pump? It's a 87 johnson 90hp V4. J90TLCUR 1987

Thanks!

Re: Standard Fuel Pump to Replace VRO

If your block has the mounting screws and plugged off pulse port you can use the #438556 like on the 88spl or the 5007422 which looks like the VRO pump but designed for premix only.

Re: Standard Fuel Pump to Replace VRO

So, if my pulse port is plugged off, I can use #438556. The replacement for the OEM part that is fuel only is #5007422. Correct?

The first option seems much more cost effective. How exactley can I tell if this will work? What screws and where is the pulse port?

Thanks for the replies.

Yes you can use the conventional lift pump and a lot of 88HP models were sold that way. Your engine has both fittings, one above the other, so that if you plug the VRO pulse fitting and unplug the conventional, you can mount the lift pump directly to the intake manifold without a hose.
