Hello all, I'm new here and just wanted to get some opinions from you all. I have a 1968 Mercury 1000ss (s/n 2320305 ) and it wasnt getting any spark. I took it to my local boat mechanic and he looked it over and told me the trigger was bad. He also said they only made this model for two years and it wasnt even worth fixing. Price of the part would be worth more than the motor. My question to you all is....Would you look into replacing the part or just junk the motor? Also does anyone know where I might find a used one? Any input would really ease my mind. The trigger part # is 393-2918a6

Re: Dead trigger

You could probably get the part online for not to much $$. If you know how to install it. Did the dealer say he would take your old motor if you decided to scrap it? He could be scamming you (everyone need money in this economy) so just watch out and look around.

Re: Dead trigger

Yeah i found one online for way much less than what he was talking about. No, he wasn't wanting the motor or at least he didnt say anything. My plan is to get the part online and install it myself. Does anyone have any tips? Just by looking at it it looks like I have to remove the whole distributor. Is this right? Any replies will help.... Thanks
