I am removing a hydraulic cylinder from my motor and for some reason I can not remove the main bolt(allen wrench).. I used lubricants but nothing.broke 1 allen wrench and I am starting to strip the nut..This is not the first time I've had this problem.. I have not tried heat.. There is no rust.. It just seems like the bolt swelled up 1 size.. Anyone else have a similar problem or any solutions..
Thanks

Re: hydraulic cylinder removal

Not exactly sure what bolt you are trying to remove. It almost sounds like it could be a fastener on the cylinder shaft. If this is the case is it possible the shaft is turning with the with the Allen? If so you are going to have to secure the shaft and then loosen the Allen. Some cylinders shafts have flats machined on them just for this purpose. Post a Pic if possible. Don't know if this is your problem or not but that is my best guess based on your info.

Re: hydraulic cylinder removal

It is the bolt that connects the hydraulic cylinder to the steering arm.. It threads through the steering arm then gets a lock nut on top, has a few washers and shims in between..
