any way to find out original engine type/size??

was working on my 1990 thundercraft this weekend with a few friends. we were putting on the new steering system (old one was frozen) and my one friend noted the engine isnt original as it was apparently repowered a while back since there is an unused steering cable hole that is higher up on the transom...as well as old engine mount holes that I never noticed before.

not only that but it makes sense to me now as my current engine is a 1988 engine and the boat is a 1990...

what I'd like to do is find out if there's any way I can see what the original engine size/type was on the boat??

I'm thinking it was probably still a mercury engine due to the gauges, etc.

They offered those with so many power packages it is almost impossible if it was rigged at the factory you can contact them with the HIN# and maybe they could tell you.

ok, thats what I was hoping I could do.

the only problem is I've never found a phone # for thundercraft.

I do know they are owned by the canadian yacht company doral though. :rolleyes:

I wonder how the coast guard even lets them get away with that??

before you waste the stamp it also says they are out of buisness
