Problems with Lowrance X37TX Depthfinder

Hello,
I have X37TX depthfinder that has a transom mount transducer on my 2005 tracker aluminum boat.

The unit seems to operate OK when the boat is moving, or is over deeper water. The problem is that once I get in shallow water (<10 ft), the unit starts to act very flaky (the screen will fill up with black dots and the depth will show untrue numbers like 300ft).

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to figure out what is wrong? I have tried cutting everything off and it still does this (thinking maybe it was picking up noise from something else).

Thanks in advance for the help!

Best regards,
Joseph

First thing I would try is reduceing the sensitivity. Also if you have any surface clutter turned on turn it off. Try auto mode first then try manual mode bet set to 20 feet. Many units have trouble in shallow water.

Thanks. I have not tried setting the depth to manual mode - I will try that next. I did try to play with the sensitivity, and that did not seem to help.

Thanks,
Joseph
