25 hp mercury

Have an older 25 hp mercury probably bout 82 to 85 model with tiller handle, when I engage it to go forward it does nothing. any clue what this could be.

#1 Check the linkage under the hood to make sure it is shifting into gear.

If Yes then: If no then correct the linkage problem.

#2 Mark the prop to see if the hub is spinning if the engine is shifting into gear.

If yes then rehub the prop.

nope... when I turned the handle to forward the engine just rev up and the prop didn't spin. so I don't have a clue.

N' yer never gonna get a clue if ya don't follow EXACTLY what I told ya above.

Take it to a shop, or sell it to someone who will look at it and fix it. JR
