'06 Trailblazer EXT 4x4 with the inline 6. It does OK considering I'm pulling about 300 over the max rating. Have to go to 4 wheel Low to get the rig out of a steep ramp.

Well, I have a 2001 S10 with a custom shaved back end and I found that a hitch would not fit it because of the back end. So I I found a hitch from some kinda of car and slid the metal brackets into the leaf springs and used a very heavy duty ratchet strap to hold it from moving backwards. As ghetto as it sounds its actually very sturdy.

And what keeps it from moving forwards???

I tow our '64 17' Crosby with my 1993 Chevry Caprice Classic Wagon, LT1, Class III tow hitch, new variable load springs, air adjustable shocks and 1-1/2 " lift.

Locally it tows great, 1 mile to the launch, vacations I don't go much over 70mph, she like to warm up on the big hills.

I sometimes feel like Chevy Chase from the "Vacation" movies. But that's another story.

I tow my 18.5ft 2009 Larson Senza 186 with a 2009 Dodge Ram Crew Cab 5.7L Hemi (390HP). Gas milage is somewhat ok while towing, around 11-12mpg. Pulls hills while towing like there is nothing behind it. Had a 2007 GMC Z71 before this truck and the gas milage was horrile, the Dodge is way better on gas milage.

On the way back from Halls Crossing on Lake Powell in this shot. 10% grade on this gravell road I was about to go down. I went up this same road the day before with no problems. Going down this day was a bit of a challenge because the road is very narrow and there was a massive RV coming up while I was going down. Was about 6 inches between us when we passed each other.

I'll second that... heres why:

I disagree - this rusty, crusty was coming off regardless.
When you think of it, a receiver hitch is just a piece of metal bolted to the frame (or unibody structure) ... a truck bumper is just a piece of metal bolted to a frame - no real difference so long as ratings are observed and it isn't rusted to the point of falling off.

My little '03 Ford Escape 2wd pulls my 16ft Crestliner and Coleman pop-up just fine. Even with over 200k it's still going strong!
