Does anyone have a boat cover (non-custom) covering high bow rails.

Here's the scoop. I have a 21' open V hull, dual console fishing boat (actually a fish+ski)..I've looked at many online Semi-Custom or Universal covers that sound and look ok. But I'm not certain they will go over my 12+inch bow rails. The rails start low at the windshield and run to a point at the bow that is about 12inches from the surface of the boat deck.

Curious if anyone has a cover that covers this, or knows of a make/mfg that might we suitable for me. The winter cover is coming off soon, and really need to find something somewhat affordable and that will cover over the Rails, down a few inches onto the hull.

Thanks.

My SeaRay had bow, stern and side rails, although they were about 6" high. the custom cover I had was made ot accomodate them. Alternatively, the cover can snap around the railings, like my SeaSwirl cover does.

If your boat is a popular make, and the rails are standard, you may be able to find a custom cover in the aftermarket world. Try BoatUS catalog.

Tanks,

I may be able to do something with some snaps, as I've made covers before but wanted to avoid that work.

Its an Answer Marine 21 fisherman, not that popular. GOing to try to find a similar hull/rail by pictures and maybe try a custom if I can find it.

Thanks

Gary H,

Was your cover you mentioned for the Wellcraft V in your pic? If so, that is a similiar style and hull/rails as Mine? do you know what make/model it was etc?

Gary H,

Sorry, I see that it is a ChrisCraft...But still looks like a cover for that would work for my Answer Marine...If you can let me know what make/model cover to look at due to the higher rails. Appreciated

Thanks Gary,

I was right, That hull is very similar to mine. I made the leap and went with a ProBass SHops cover made by Stearns. I was skeptical at first, But it worked out very good. I was surprised at the fit with a little tugging here and there, and it was a 600Dernier.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Boat Cover for High Bow Rails

Ok, I thought I liked my new cover but......

First rain on my new Cover....I'm hoping those with covers can weigh in on what I can/should expect for "dryness".

I bought a ProBass Shops "STEARNS" brand "pro-storm" 600Dernier Poly cover for $190.00. I got a great fit. Its really raining now but due to the taughness, fit and the height of the tongue of the trailer, the rain is rolling off nicely--no apparant issues.

However Peeking in at the back, I can see the floor wet inside and some water rolling down the the inside toward the stern.

I do have towels at the Windshield length and corners to protect the material from sharp edges. The water appears to be "beading" up nicely, so I was surprised to see the water inside. It does just touch the tops of the driver and passanger pedistal seats..But I see water dripping through up in the bow area I believe. Its hard to see exactly where without getting in.

Again, no water is pooling at all. Should I be applying additional Water-Proofing? Would that be considered normal for those that want to keep all water out? I really like this top, But I need a dry boat.

Thoughts.

Re: Boat getting wet with brand new cover

Re: Boat getting wet with brand new cover

Ok, Now that I've crawled in to see exactly what is going on with my new cover.....Its not just leaking at seams or stress points as I thought it might be. The entire underside of "ALL" areas of the fabric is wet. It then beads on the underside, then drips.....Just about all over.

Is this normal for what I thought was a decent cover. Again A ProBass Shop STEARNS brand "stormpro" 600 Dernier poly cover. No Pooling and good fit.

I know these are not high dollar custom covers, but Geeze--Brand new and my entire boat inside is drenched? Will some water proofer applied truely help? Or should I take it back and try some other brand? I'm a long time boater and this is my first top. Take that Back--I Made one awhile back for my smaller boat, and that fabric was 100% waterproof. But I dont want to spend a month at the sewing machine again.

Anyone cover experienced have any thoughts..Apply Waterproofer, or try another cover?

Most appreciated.
