I just picked this boat up and was wondering exactly what year the outboard was. I'm new to outboard style fishing boats and didn't think much of this motor before I bought the boat, but I must say... this little antique is pretty impressive... it starts easy and runs good for being so ancient.

How easily can you obtain parts like seals and such for this motor?

Thanks for your help.

It's from the 50s. Look for the model number and post it, and we'll tell you what year.

Most commonly-needed parts are readily available, and those are nice outboards.

That is a 1956 Model FD-10. The only year the FD was a 15HP. Later FDs were 18HP.

Correct fuel mix is 24:1: 1 quart TC-W3 outboard oil to 6 gallons of 87 octane unleaded regular.

Spark plugs are Champion J6C gapped at .030"

Points are set at .020"

Great engine. Many still in regular use and parts are pretty easy to find.

All the seals and tune-up parts are readily available from your local marina or here at iboats.
