I have a bent inner prop shaft and am going to repalce it. In order to remove it I know that I need the special tool. ( have it on order) I suspect that it is a zero tollerance fit due to the fact that I need the tool to pull it. All bearings are in good shape. The question I have is how do I put the shaft back in? I am planning to put it back in with out complete disassembly.
( without removing the vertical shaft and pinion gear)

Short of beating the shaft with a hammer, I don't think there is a way. First you would beat up the end of the shaft, second, I really don't think the forward tapered bearing would stand for it. You are also going to have to reshim the intermediate bearing and check your backlash readings. A new shaft may not be identical to the old one. If you have to change the preload on the intermediat, then you will have change the backlash.

Have no clue what a dual elbow tool is.
