I have to test the pressure but its raining buckets outside now. I have a fuel pump on my 1996 90hp Johnson (J90TLEDA) and it might need to be rebuilt. I see Part number 5007420 listed as a kit but I think it?s the pump assembly along with some other things.

It?s $398.

Is there a cheaper kit that just has the internals so I can rebuild the pump myself?

they are not rebuildable, they are replacement, or go the premix pump.

Where do I hook up the fuel pressure gage and what should the pressure be? I would think after the pump but doesn't it work on the vacuum or pulse of the pistons?

What I have is more of a vacuum gage and I would think I have to hook it up before the pump. Do I need an actual pressure gage so I can hook it up after the pump?

Do I need the special tester or can I get by with typical automotive tools? I have a compressor and a vacuum pump with a gage.

I have a Johnson authorized mechanic in the area but I would hate to pay $80 an hour just to find out if the pump is what is giving me the trouble if I can do it myself.

Can this be tested without special OMC tools?

Can I doo this with regular tools or do I need the special OMC tools?
