Just returned back from our trip to Bahia Honda in the Florida Keys. The boys and I had a great time at the park camping. Beautiful park to stay at and probably the best boat ramp within the keys.

Thanks to everyone that provided input on my last posting for the trip. Unfortunatly we did not make it out to Looe Key due to the rough seas. Even Bahia's Snorkel Express cancelled their trip out to the reef for several days. So we will have to save that one for another day.

What an experience though navigating the waters of the Keys. The saying that they have about the color of the water indicating the depths was extremly helpful, though I did rub the bottom twice.

We encountered a pod of dolphins about six of them and we had a great experience with them. They would get into my wake and jump though the wake making it a sight to see. The waters are something else. Crystal clear and we were able to find some local area's to snorkel in.

Went down to Key West for the sun set festival which was really cool. I would definintly recommend a trip down there of you have not been before.:D

I have to agree with you , the water around the keys is beautiful. Crystal clear to the bottom, and lots of wildlife to see. Last August, we went on vacation to Key West, and just driving out there, you could see the bottom of the water on either side of the main bridge.
We took a snorkeling trip there ($30 a person) to this reef about 3 miles out maybe, but it was stunning. The water was about 25 feet deep, and crystal clear. I found myself face to face with baracudas, angel fish, tang, damsels, and every other tropical fish you could imagine. The only thing I regret is buying that stupid $20 "under water" Sponge Bob camera. The pictures came out terrible. We are definitely going again this year, if I could ever go without being on call at work.
There are also tons of cool museums and such to check out.

Good to hear you had a good time. Can understand the trip cancellations due to rough seas. This has been the windiest winter I have seen since we got here in 2000. FRED

Last week I was at Long Point Park just north of the Sebastian Cut. I had to cut my trips short because of the wind. Hope its not like that next year.
