Re: Anchor Line Holder? What's it called?
Bekosh, even though its not what I need, it sure is a nice cord storage. Could use one in the garage and basement for the extension cord. For some reason, I seem to be the only one in my house who has the gene that lets you wind up an extension cord neatly after use.
I found a retailer that sells bow rail by the foot. Thats nice for small projects like this.
The reason I started this thread is because with the hard top almost done and the latest window design working, I can easily climb out the hard top window to the bow (instead of squeezing out that little hatch) to do anchor duty. But I don't want to have to drag an anchor and line with me. So I've been spending lots of time thinking about how to organize the anchor and line on the bow.
It comes down to two basic designs: 1) an anchor mount and line holder or 2) an anchor pulpit and line holder.
The Windline anchor mount looks like it would work well. People say its a good design and heavy duty piece of hardware. I like that.
An Anchor pulpit is also a nice way to store the anchor, but I don't know if it will work well for deploying the anchor for my boating. I typically anchor in shallow water near a beach. An anchor pulpit means that the anchor is dropped, then the boat is backed toward the shore, (then a second anchor is deployed off the stern and usually dug in on the beach but this is done regardless of how I deploy the bow anchor)
One nice thing about an anchor pulpit is that the line can be wrapped around the anchor back to a mooring bit in a big loop to store the line.
I'm just rambling, throwing out the thoughts I've been having.
Any one have a similar situation that cares to share how they handle keeping it all sorted out nice? I would appreciate any comments.
Thanks!
Mark.
