95 merc 115hp, water pump

just replaced the water pump on my 115, and not much water if at all comes out, and i noticed when it starts up sometime, it sounds like compressed air coming out of the drain hole, any ideas on why i dont get a steady stream of water??? thanks

Im not to smart on boat motors by any means, I have a 25 HP motor that has had problems with a good stream of water coming out. but my motor sat outside for quite awhile. them darn mud dabber wasp like to build a little nest or something in exit hose , mine was clogged up twice. check to see if your hose is cleared. BTW im trying to figure out how to change my impeller, have never dont it before. Laddies has been a big help.
