Heck, they sell boats made of heavy tupperware stuff, so who's to say?
OTOH, I think there are a couple of freebie boats on Craig's List right now, complete with trailers and broken outbords. They might not be seaworthy, but they're free...what the heck?

I used to use an old big tupperware box that my parents stored a Christmas (opps, that would be a holiday tree) in. It worked good with a tackle box, battery for the trolling motor & me. Doubt it would work as I have gained a few pound.
As kids, we used to go down the river in a huge piece of styrofoam that a big piece of equipment was shipped in. It was very tough, and if we bothered to cover it in fiberglass, it would probably still be around today.
