Ahh yes with all the free information on proper winterizing on this and other forums. not to mention the fellas that will service your rig for a nomional fee.
That there are blocks crackin out there. I read every thing I could to prevent problems come spring time. Thanks to all you members who are willing to give helpfull advice to us rookies.. RJWoodrome

Got to agree with Don on this issue.Everything a owner needs can be downloaded, asked, refered to,etc. but do they? .The "I`ve done it this way for years" dosen`t seem to be working anymore. Cracked blocks, manifolds, blown out core plugs, trim systems, electrical systems,impellers ,and the list goes on. The manuals are out there, READ THEM. What you don`t undewrstand ASK. The whole idea of "Preventine Maintainence" is to keep you from breaking something.
Guess it got colder that most people thought,huh

Hehe, yep, I paid the Stupid Tax early into winter. Luckily it was a low rate. Hope most others are as fortunate.

As a new 'real' boat owner, I can say there is a pretty big intimidation leap to make when you get your first 'big' boat. I paid enough for it that I didn't want to break it right off the bat by sticking wires in places they didn't belong (referring to draining the block). It takes a lot of reading (eg: get the service manual) to get up to speed on just the maintenance aspect of boat ownership, but once you do it the first time, it almost seems second nature. It is a much smaller leap from maintenance to completely tearing your boat down to the hull, as scary as that sounds

To all new boat owners reading this.. find someone/hire someone/beg someone to show you the ropes of boat ownership right off the bat, you will save a LOT of money by just keeping things working.. and there are a lot of things to keep working on a boat.

Well that's ONE good thing going for my old 3.7 (470), the block is full of -50 antifreeze all year. So as long as I don't forget to drain the heat exchanger.....
