I was told I should be good to go is there such thing as a summerize for a I/o?

always make sure that your engine is pumping water. the pump shaft has been sitting static for months. good idea to replace water pump about every third season! imho.

I'd put some fresh gas in there and start it up on the muffs before bringing it to the water. Starting it for the first time of the year might take a bit of effort, and I like to do that without the wife and kids all loaded up ready to go and having her say "why wont it it start" for the entire time it takes to get it running, but yeah, you really shouldn't need to do anything other than have a fully charged batery. I believe the antifreeze normally used for Winterization is non-toxic, so dropping it into the water and starting it there for the first time shouldn't be an issue.

yep. go look at the adults only sticky at the top of the i/o fourm. read the one called summerization.

i'll second the note on running it in the driveway first. i do that before most every outing...

Antifreeze is extremely toxic. Flush that out at home first before you flush it at the lake.

the green stuff is. the pink, the way i get it, is not toxic at all. that said. i use the pink stuff. i also drain the antifreeze out in the driveway prior to getting to the lake....

Draining it in the driveway still puts it in the lake, eventually.

Good battery and run it on the muff first that way you dont have any headaches at the ramp. I like to do that every time the boat has not been run in a while (weeks in my case) as I dont like to hold people in the ramp...
