Anybody Know How Long The Steer Cable Is On A 1988 Bass Tracker Tx?i May Have To Replace Mine It Is Pretty Stiff. Can They Be Relubed?

far better off to buy a new one rather than fool around trying to lube your old one, the length is usually stamped on the outer cable near the end. or you could pull it out and measure it (it needs to be removed anyway)

there should be a number stamped on the sheath of the cable, that is your replacement #.

Re-lube---YES!! They need to be pulled out of the tilt tube and cleaned and relubed as a regular preventative maintainence item. Failure to do so will cause them to get tight and eventually you won't even be able to get it apart. The cause is rust that develops inside the steel tilt tube, not the cable.

OK, so it might not be possible to get it out of the tilt tube without lifting the motor off the transom. No excuse, you still gotta do it, whatever it takes.

A New Cable Seems To Be A Round 100.00 Plus Shipping Here On Iboats. I Think It Would Be A Good Investment. Thanks For All The Response.
