Anyone used the Interlux Vinyl lux-prime wash to paint there boat.
my boat is bare aluminum. I will be using the vinly lux, then there interprotect 2000e which is an epoxy barrier coat. How should I prep the metal perform applying the Vinyl lux. Interlux say to sand with 80grit. Should I wash the boat with anything?

Thanks in advance

Re: Vinyl lux-prime wash

You definitely want go get rid of all the debris from sanding. Some recommend wiping the surface down with diluted vinegar then a damp cloth. You can take it a step further and wipe the surface with a white cloth dampened with acetone repeatedly until the cloth came up clean. This will remove any oily residue as well as help the surface to dry prior to painting.

Be sure to get all the little nooks and crannies along the seams. The surface needs to be dry with as little time as possible between cleaning and priming.

Is there a good solvent to wipe down the metal before using the vinyl lux.
