foot oil plugs

unable to get the plugs out of foot to check oil level, flathead slot on plugs are both in bad shape, tried over sized screwdriver, but didn't work, any ideas besides drill they out and buy new plugs

Use a punch and try to peen the plug flat and the use a narrow chisel thats not sharp in the slot to break it loose.

Another option is to use a Dremel tool to grind a better slot into the plug so the screwdriver does not slip. Dremels come with lots of bit choices. I would try the cut-off blade, but perhaps there are other flat disc shaped bits available that would work even better.

Best option is an impact screwdriver.

Put new plugs in with new gaskets and never use the gaskets twice.

No -- don't try "everyones" advice in the sequence listed. Use the impact screwdriver first. They will come out if you use the driver correctly. If that fails, then use the drill, dremel, etc. Impact drivers a just a few bucks at any Harbor Freight outlet. More at Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

Definetly the impact driver.It is spring loaded by hand then smacked with a hammer and seldom fails unless too much of the former advice has been tried.

hey folks thanks for all the advise, didn't have to use any of the differ ways. just need the larger bit of my impact driver and turned it by hand, i guess old screwdriver was wore out. but they came out checked lube in foot looks good added a lit, and put new plugs in, again thanks for advise to all.
