(Not wanting to hijack Cast-a-ways thread)

I've got back to back sleeper seat and want to swap them out for something different.

I've picked up a couple of aluminum boxes that were seat bases in an Alumicraft (sp??) and am going to use that for the rear seats. I'll be taking the cushions off the seat I have now and reusing them (it would all make sense if you saw the seats I have) but am looking for something decent for the front seats. I'm the driver and want to be comfy.

Buddy has a nice Thunderjet boat with susension seats that are real comfy in rougher water. But (short of stealing them and he might notice) I can't afford $1,500 or whatever he paid for his.

So I got thinking. Princess Auto has tractor seats. They have a universal suspension seat (go to http://downloads.princessauto.com/?Lid=E and find page 80 in the catalog) for $140 each. Allows for forward and back movement but does not appear to rotate (neither does what I have now).

The height looks close to what I need. Any reason why they would not work?

1977 Starcraft SS if that matters.

Try pick a part. There's lots of different style vinyl seats in there from swivel captains chairs to low back seats and the price is right. You could be stylin with a reclining swivel bucket with arm rests just like your favorite recliner at home. Cost a looney to get in but you might find a great seat. I found a bench front seat for an old k car I had for $35. and it was in near perfect condition.

That seems like a great idea !!

His or mine????

Problem with a full sized auto seat is I think it's going to be too wide and tall. While I do need a seat that fits my big rear end, I don't want to take too much of the cockpit area for the front seats as I still want rear ones and have room to play a fish.

Hmmm Maybe I just need a bigger boat.

I'm not sure a seat out of a smaller import will be any larger than a boat seat. Might be worth a walk through. A new suspension seat for $140 might seem like a good deal but how well would it be built?
