I have a 1969 evinrude 55 hp I just got running again. Unfortunately I'm not sure the water pump is working. When I started the motor I had it in water up to the anti-cavitation plate. I didn't really see water coming out anyplace like on other motors I have seen that have a water p--- hole. Where does water come out on this motor or how do I verify the pump is good? Is there anything else that could be blocking the water flow?

Thanks for the help

There should be a hole in the back of the mid-unit(correct term?) just below the powerhead. This, I believe, is the exhaust for cooling water from the motor.

When the motor was running did the heads feel hot?? If so, how quickly did they get that way?? And most importantly, how long did you run it??

you need to have it a bit deeper also. They like to run with water up above the water pump.
