no start turns over no spark,choke dont work anybody know what this prob mite be? help im lost no power to choke button got from freind he said it ran great last year.is ther a kill switch i heard choke is kill switch if that dont get power there will be no spark? cant figure this out please help..

We need a serial number or year to help. There are 2 different ign systems one is battery powered CD (with a dist) and the other is ADI ign. (with 4 coils)

no spark and the choke on the dash board of boat dont choke the motor is my no spark related to no choke button not work.what do i do to find whats wrong?

no spark throu plug wires,my choke button on dash dont seam to choke engine.im lost new to boat engines what are some comin problems with this eng? i bought it from work mate he said ran fine last year great and looks verry clean,he left the boat outside over winter,now wont start no spark,anybody have any idea what happend?and where i mite start to get it in the water? thanks new boater......

As mentioned in this previous post, you need to provide more info about the motor to be able to help you.

The non-functioning choke has nothing to do with a no-spark issue.

Somehow they always ran great for the previous owner the previous year.

No power to the choke may be related, but only from the point that there may not be any power getting to the engine.

There was a lot of variation over the years in those engines. For anyone to help you have to give the serial number. It is located either on the plate between the transom clamps or on the side of the engine block.

Be warned that as you work on this you are going to need at the least a spark gap tester and a multi-meter. You will also find that a service manual is a requirement as well. You might not believe that now, but you will...... you WILL.

the only wire on the motor that is reading any voltes is the red wire on the mounting plate on the engine have power to egnition and power to the kill switch y do i have no live volts to any other wires on the engine?
