For the love of pete... I just bought a 1993 forester 160 sport with a 3.0 for the engine to drop in my 19' CC. After looking at the manual, I found that there are 2 modes, a 115hp and a 135hp (L or LX). How do I find out which one I have? I searched on the internet, and called a boat shop with no luck. The plate and sticker on the bellhousing serial number is 0F072595.

What is the diference between the 2? Cam, head etc? Thanks.

It's a 3.0L (Not the LX). Model # 430B0003S

Different head and carb jetting and intake/exhaust manifold.

Crap... But, I should be able to put the manifolds, head and carb off my blown 3.0 140 hp and put it on the 115? Would that give me 135 - 140? Or is the cam diferent too?

You already have the same thing as the older 140's, just a different method of determining HP ratings. The 140's were rated at the crankshaft, now they are rated at the prop shaft.

Re: Help me identify my 1993 3.0

Thanks, I have learned a lot already!

Just to clarify...the L 115 is identical to the older 140.

Not saying I would, but if I put a LX 135 head on, it would be more power and if we were back in the 80's, it would have been rated at about 160?

And this L 115 is actually more powerful than the 1986 2.5 120 thats in the boat because the HP ratings changed over the years? I know it will not be a huge diference, I just need a few extra ponies to get me on plane.

THANKS for the help and knowledge. Don - you are the man!!!
