Checking the timing on my motor and appears to be running advanced. Is there a vaccumm advance on it if so where and dose this need to be disconnected before trying to set timing. Also the guages bounce around when just setting at an idle. Could this be a grounding problem??? Thanks Pete

Could this be a grounding problem???

very likely but more info is neaded does the oil greasre gauge work or is it bouncung also the reason i ask is if there is a ground short to the oil presure gauge or sending unit wire it may be feeding the ground for the instrument panel threw the oil presure sensor but check all other conections that is a long shot only seen it once and it bothered me for days working on a buddys boat we did not even take the boat out until i fixed it and then the alternator went out next time out on the water but we still had a fun day i bet we swapted batteries 5 or 6 times that day he would run around goof off play his radio the boat would start to run badly come over and change his battery for mine i was idleing alot that day charging his bat if i think about it i ended up with his POS battery and he got my good one
