First off I must say sorry to be a newbe here. I just purchased a Bently 06 pontoon with a 90 Mercury O/B. The person I bought it from stored the boat in his garage (heated) this past winter, I know because I used to go out on this boat all last summer ( Family Friends). He's taken VERY good care of it and had to move. So the question is that he said he didn't fog it this year seeing it was in the garage, so what general maint. So what should I do before taking it to the lake an looking like a fool if it has a problem. I don't have to mix the oil & gas and all he said was to just make sure that I maintain my oil level and don't use the cheap oil. Wow thanks,
So reading way to much on the net, should I take it in an have it preped or do it myself. Then what really needs to be changed out. Like I said it was winterize the first two years but this past winter not seeing it didn't sit outside in the winter but kept in the garage this winter. Thanks for any help to all and please make things simple, just hoping I haven't gotten in over my head lol.

Re: Help with 90 Mercury

Didn't the previous owner have the owners manual for the motor? Is this a 2 or 4 stroke motor? Carbed or Fuel injected?

Re: Help with 90 Mercury

Thanks Don
No Manual and it's a cheap 2 stroke, sorry to sound like a fool. like I said it's been in the garage and just looking for some help with preping it at home before I take it to the lake. Its 3 years old and this is the first year it wasn't winterized because it was kept in the garage where the temp never went below 40. I do has 3 new spark plugs if I want to replace them. Again thanks for the help

Ron, there should be a plate riveted or glued to the transom bracket, this plate will have the model and serial numbers on it. Could you post these numbers?
