mercury warning horn

When i turn key to on position alarm horn blows beep-beep-beep and does not stop. motor is merc 2001 200 hp EFI. Why and how, to fix? Tks.

That is indicating low oil. Could be a problem with the tank. The magnets that trigger the sensor have been known to fall off the float and even though the float goes up and down the magnets are laying in the bottom of the tank registering empty.

are the magnets in the aux oil tank or on the tank on the port side of the block? the port side tank has two openings. one with a (i quess a sensor wire) secured by a screw. Is this where the magnets are on the float? To fix do you buy a new tank or can magnets be glued back?. Tks

The ones I have seen are only a single tank system. The blue wire is the sensor for the oil. You can confirm the problem by removing the oil tank and turning it upside down. That should make the beep stop if the magnets are the problem. New tank is required if that is the problem.
