Re: popping out the carb.

More like a bad intake valve sticking or hung up. The popping is either compression blowing back or a misfire or water in the fuel/carb.
Do a compression test

Check via a compression test.... if you have little to none in 1 cylinder then it's probably a bad valve.

Re: popping out the carb.

an exhaust valve not opening will cause these symptoms, possible lobe worn off tne cam, broken or backed off rocker arm ,pull the valve cover and spin the motor over while watching the valve movement
good luck

Yes, it'll run depending on the cause. If it's a valve problem, the valve is more likely to be "sticky" (slow to close because it's gummed up) rather than stuck solidly open. Or, the valve face is burned and not forming a good seal in the head. Or, a valve return spring is busted. As stated, do a compression check first.

Another common possibility is that your ignition timing is off and the plugs are firing while a valve is partially open. That'll cause the same symptom.

isnt it funny when someone doesn't like the answer they get, they look for another one, start with filters and work your way up in price from there.
