Hello,

I am going to remove the prop from my 2-stroke Suzuki DT25 (Model No:02503-132880). Is there anything I need to be aware of while removing or installing a prop on this engine?

Is it something I can do with ordinary tools or do I need something more specialised?

While installing the prop back on do I need any new parts ie a new cotter pin, washer etc??

Thank you in advance

No special tools are "needed". You can remove the nut with a large crescent wrench if you don't have the proper socket to fit it.
If the cotter pin seems weak or flimsy replace it. Nothing like a $.50 part ruining your day on the water with a lost prop.
Just remember to grease the prop shaft before reinstalling new prop.

Replace the pin without a doubt.

So there is no need to buy a New Prop Nut Kit (prop nut, cotter pin, washer, prop spacer), just the cotter pin would do, right?

Do I go to any hardware/marine shop and get such a pin or do I get it straight from the Suzuki dealership?

don't forget to replace the rear thrust washer if it comes off--make sure it does not stick to the old prop when pulling off--any cotter pin the same size will work

"Prop Nut Kit" :p
No, just do what the above said unless you mess something up taking it off :D

...ok!
I removed the prop and I got 2 extra bits, I hope there are no more washers or anything left attached to either the prop or the engine.

Now its off to the repair shop to get it fixed and maybe one day I get a new one!

I guess after greasing everything, installation is as easy as removing it, right? Do I tighten the prop nut to a certain torque?
