Re: 87 50hp Force no spark

I have a 85 50hp force which had a similar problem. Although the coils both looked great so went up to the stator instead. It needed to be cleaned and a point was not set correctly. Did those two things and we had spark.

I am not sure the differences between a 85 and a 87 but that is what my problem was.

Good luck.

Although if your hot to both coils then my post means very little.

When you say hot on all four wires, are you checking from each terminal to ground? If you are, you will get voltage whenever the switch is turned on.

Make sure that your points are opening and closing and that the gap is set per the book.

Next, pull the plugs. Connect one to the spark plug wire and ground the plug shell. Spin the engine and look for a blue spark.

Let us know.
