Using "MUFFS"

How is one suppose to use "MUFFS" for flushing out an outboard ? Are you suppose to just run the water without starting the engine or do you run the engine while flushing ? Thanks

Attach muffs, run hose to muffs, turn on water, make sure intakes are covered, start motor to pump and circulate water around the motor.

How do you cover intakes ? on a "62" 71/2/ hp fishing scott ?

Plastic trash barrell works for me. Fill it up high.
