mariner 115 starter stayes engauged

The starter on the motor engauges when I connect the battery. I disconnected the key switch and it still does it. Besides a short in the wiring harness, anything else I need to look for?

Disconnect the small yellow wire w/red trace line from the starter relay and retest.

That wire is the relay trigger, if the starter now remains off you have a short in the wiring somewhere.

If the starter continues to turn then the relay is shorted inside and needs to be replaced.

It could be in the key swich,but probably in the relay.
