Re: What do you use to connect wires on your boat?

I'm completely re-doing a 1978 Cane Cutter bass boat. I could tell just by looking that this boat has been re-wired before. When I pulled both the instrument panel and the trolling motor panel, the regular run-of-the-mill automotive crimp solderless terminals had been used. They had been dabbed with 3M liquid electrical tape, but either the wire was stripped too far or age had caused there to be copper strands exposed between the crimp and the wire insulation. Of course this was green and brittle from oxidation.

Also, the wiring was left in a birds nest and tucked up under the console. Can't stand it.......I'm going to make it nice and neat.

Nice post Pirate.

I've been using non-insulated terminals with a dimple crimper and shrink tube.
