Rain!!

The Hideout has had about .75 inches of rain since February. This following the driest winter ever recorded for this area.

Late last week the weatherpersons started forecasting 3-6" of rain for N. Texas this week. . . severe storms, heavy rain, hail, etc, etc.

I have a 65,000 barrel stock tank with about 5,000 barrels of water in it and the gas drillers clamoring to buy water from me at $.10 a barrel.

It will take about 5-6" of heavy rain after ground saturation to fill my tank.

Yesterday a heavy storm front passed just south of me, dropping 3-4" 20 miles away. Today a storm system has passed just north of me, dropping 4-6" about 25 miles away.

My rain guage is DRY!!:(

This ain't in the least bit fair. I need intervention of some sort.:(

Well, you can always move your tank over to my backyard. Once "monsoon season" starts here in SE Louisiana, the tank would probably fill about once each week.

I won't charge you much. I swear! Only half!

Re: Rain!!

Same scenario here in Corpus. No rain and extremely high southeast wind.Weather down in these parts though rarely comes in moderation. When it does finally rain, and it will,I only hope that it's not one of those 10" in two hour episodes.

Re: Rain!!

Would you like the snow we were getting a couple days ago? There's still a bit of it in my back yard. The lakes were starting to melt a week ago, but I don't think there's been any progress since then. We're supposed to get some decent weather by the weekend though (~15?C).

Make really big plans to do something....like a big boating trip, family reunion, wedding etc.....make sure its something that has to be done outside. That's a sure fire way to make sure you get some rain!

Weather pattern?? Towns as close as 15 miles in several directions have gotten as much as 6" in the past three days and the bottom of my rain guage is dry.

That isn't a pattern, it is a curse. :(

Re: Rain!!

When I was in New Orleans, LA many years ago, I wandered around the state to see what I could see. Being a New Yorker, the oppressive heat and humidity was too much for me to take for any length of time, and I needed to replenish my fluids. I turned on my bloodhound-like senses to seek out a cold beer. I entered a one-traffic light town and sprinted to the General Store and asked the keeper where the cold beer was stored. She turned to me with the disgusted look and exclaimed " This here is a dry parish, you have to go back to where you're from if you want a drink!"
Maybe that's the problem?:p

It'll come...and probably too much at once when it does.;)

Re: Rain!!

Waaaaaaa!!! :(

Another storm system roared BY me today. I did get a dampening too small to register on the rain guage.

It moved on east and caused flooding and damage in the Metroplex and, as I type, is spawning tornadoes and more flooding to the east.

C'mon Mother Nature. This is not fair. It is MY TURN. About 6-8", please.

I don't know how far from Dallas you are JB but they got a big one just minutes ago that destroyed a Cowboys practice facility.
Good luck, hope you get rain but not a storm like that.
btw my yard is like a peat bog, I can't even mow.
Would send you a bunch if I could.

Re: Rain!!

JB, did you get anymore with the latest run? It must all be hitting me. We have had several inches in hte last couple of hours here in Fort Worth. Need lots more though to fill the lakes. Lake Grapevine is still down about 7 feet. I remember last year, my mom called me to tell me how badly thye got hail damage. I was outside putting the cover on the boat and looked to the NE and said, yup, it is dark over there but blue skies above me. They live about 5 miles NE of me. :D

On the news this morning, I saw that Dallas had a whoopin' from Mother Nature. Also, it appeared like God wanted to take a peek at his favorite team's rookie mini-camp too!;) Hope the injured heal up okay and you find your torrents soon!
