Will be in Sanibel Florida next week on the 5th of May for several days. It is my understanding that May is a great time to go Tarpon fishing.

Anyone know of any good charter captains, website or phone number?

Also heard that there is a Hard Rock Casino in Ft. Myers. If so, how far is it from the bridge that goes to Sanibel?

isn't fishing enough of a gamble..lol

No, there is no HRC in Fort Myers, or anywhere near Ft. Myers..
There IS the Big "M" floating cruise ship casino that sails out 5 miles and lets you play..There is also the Seminole Casino in Imokolee (dont recomend)

The 2 Hard Rocks are in Hollywood, FL (near Miami) and Tampa Bay..

Sanibel is nice in May..Dont have the seasonal daily rain...yet

I am not sure where the guide will take you, there are many great spots for tarpon fishing. One of the greatest sights you will ever see is at Boca Grande where the tarpon come to spawn. There are literally thousands of them all rolling over at the top of the water in "pods", groups of 4, 6, 10 and up.
Seeing this for the first time is awe inspiring. Maybe the "pass" will be a place your guide will go. Good luck and have some fun!!

Thanks for the replies.

I was at the Hard Rock in Hollywood the day that the blonde OD'd. Was wondering why all the cops were around that day. Didn't know until I turned the news on that evening at the motel.

How long will it take to drive to Boca Grande from Sanibel?

Boca Grande is awesome especially on the hill tides but it can be a zoo too, literally hundreds of boats stacked up in the Pass, pretty crazy. If you go with Giff, you'll probably fish right outside Lighthouse Point off Sanibel, plenty of big tarpon there and he's good, he's been tearing up the SKA circuit this year and is just a really nice guy.

I was out today and saw dozens of tarpon rolling down here, feeding on the mullet, it's gonna be a good year.

there's a resort right next to Punta Rassa which is right before the Sanibel Causeway, it's nice but I don't remember it's name but it's probably cheaper than staying on Sanibel.

I spoke with Giff today about a trip him and I are planning, he said he never got a call, too bad he's been catching a fair amount of tarpon lately too.

talked to Gifford yesterday at Logan Airport, he said that you had called, he was booked solid for the week. He gave acouple of names, Brian who also booked up and he gave me a fellow named Kevin.

I talked to Kevin at the airport also and he has Friday open and just talked to him a 1/2 hour ago he was just coming in from fishing, waiting for his call to confirm Friday.

Thank you very much for the lead. Will keep all three names for futher referance.

Staying on Lingren Rd. three houses up from the end of the rd., Sanibel Inn is at the end of road. We are staying in a three bedroom home, with pool.
my sister inlaw is an administrator at a hospital in Ohio and a surgeon that she knows is letting us use the place for FREE.

On Saturday I'll be in Bradington fishing with my uncle.
